We are located in Port Williams on the Evangeline Trail in the beautiful Annapolis Valley Region of Nova Scotia, Canada. We live on a small 30 acre hobby farm with a few horses (French Canadians), cow and a calf or 2, a few lambs, a few kitties .............. all of whom tend to keep our Shilohs occupied. Our Shilohs roam freely (never ever tied or caged) and live in the house .. with us! Braemar, who learned to stay on the property immediately and watch her 'flock', has taught her 'little' ones to simply follow her example. No harsh discipline has ever been required! Puppies enjoy the same freedom! As soon as they can get out of the whelping box, they begin to explore their surroundings. From the time they're 4 weeks old, they romp around outside, following somebody, until they're tired and are then tucked in for a nap. When strangers visit, their initial experience can be a little intimidating as a few 125lb+ Shilohs run to greet them. However, the visitor(s) very quickly realize that the only danger is in being swatted by their wagging tail! At home during the evening, they (remember ..... several adult Shilohs) simply drift into the background. They go outside for their rounds before bedtime and return to settle in for the night. They love being occupied, challenged and, most of all, part of the family and loved. When it comes to training .......... they simply 'learn'! As you can probably tell .......... we are extremely impressed, as well as is everyone who visits. Shilohs are amazing! |
