Your new companion is one of life’s very, very few sources of unconditional love .......  Enjoy!

Accepting any new puppy into your home is a long-term commitment and one which we believe is not to be taken lightly. Your puppy requires the proper diet, exercise, socialization and, of course, love and attention. Your cute, cuddly puppy will quickly grow into a 100lb+ large dog. How much time and effort you are willing to commit to your puppy will undoubtedly be reflected in your adult dog’s personality, temperament, over-all health and appearance.

NUTRITIONAL:

RECEIVING YOUR PUPPY @ 8 WEEKS:

All our Puppies are fed Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy Food (soaked in hot water) mixed with cooked rice and a little Dog food (just for flavour) - All mashed up!!

We provide a sample of the kibbles for each puppy going to their new home.

If you wish to change his/her food, it should be done gradually - over a week or so - by adding the puppy’s new food in with the Eukanuba increasing the amount given each day.  If NOT done gradually the puppy will probably have diarrhea.

Also, give them dry food for chewing and teething!!

Atlantic Sable Shiloh recommends naturally preserved kibble for your puppy until they are 12 months of age then switch to a quality adult food:

  • Eukanuba large Breed Puppy food,

  • Innova Puppy Food,

  • Natural life, Eagle,

  • Pro-Plan,

  • Diamond

Add a heaping table spoon of yogurt and / or Cottage Cheese, each Day mixed with their food for calcium supplement. They may not like the yogurt!!

Veggies and fruits (carrots, apples, celery, grapes). THESE ALSO MAKE GREAT CHEW TOYS!

Raw ground turkey or chicken or beef: 1/4 cup per feeding mixed with their food.

Raw or frozen chicken wings - ONLY AFTER 6 MONTHS OF AGE - Cooking cause bones to be brittle and may choke or seriously injure your puppy.

1-3 times a week you may add organ meats such as liver, hearts, and raw beef bones with marrow.

A Shiloh Shepherd puppy should grow to be a large dog. All of our Shilohs exceed 120lbs. THEY ARE NOT GERMAN SHEPHERDS.

Please feed them as much as they want - at least for the first year!

When they are full - they are full! Then he/she will stop eating!!

SOCIALIZATION:

Your puppy will be ~ 8 weeks of age when you receive him/her.

First: the puppy must be taken to the Vet, checked and given a second shot.

DO NOT socialize your puppy until you have done this. Your puppy may come in contact with Provo or some other and become seriously ill. Wait until the puppy’s shots are up-to-date and he/she gets accustomed to your family and lifestyle (2-3 weeks).

After a few weeks, your puppy will be ready for Kindergarten Class!! Also, the puppy must be taken on frequent outings where he/she can be exposed to other people, animals and situations. This is VERY important for any puppy and failure to socialize him/her properly may cause shyness or insecurity and affect your puppy’s ability to socialize with people and animals. You cannot socialize your puppy too much!

Your puppy should continue to obedience classes and outings to the park, walks, shopping, car rides and be a genuine part of your family!!

Take your puppy everywhere!
